Did you know? Volunteering with us and your child gets a priority place on our waiting list, completely free of charge.

Every week, over 100 young people aged 4 to 14 discover adventure, build lasting friendships and gain skills that stay with them for life — all because of volunteers like you. From campfires and weekend trips to new challenges that push young people to grow, Scouting is one of the most rewarding things you’ll ever be part of.

You don’t need to be an expert, and you don’t need a Scouting background; most of our volunteers didn’t have one either. You just need a little time, some enthusiasm, and the desire to make a real difference in your community. And if you’re a parent, volunteering means priority access to our waiting list and no subscription fees for your own child; on top of everything else you’ll get out of it.

Be part of something bigger. Here’s where we need you right now:

Uniformed Volunteer Roles

• Magpies Squirrels: Thursdays, 4:00–5:00pm. No experience needed, full training given, and role-sharing welcome if one person can’t commit every week.
• Osprey Beavers: Thursdays, 5:00–6:00pm. Join a friendly, experienced group of leaders, perfect if you’d like support around you while you learn the ropes.
• Eagles Cubs: Mondays, 6:00–7:30pm. Come and help our Cubs light fires, cook outdoors and take on new challenges. Role-sharing available.
• Harriers Scouts: Thursdays, 7:30–9:00pm. Join a settled team running hikes and adventurous activities for our older Scouts.
• Social Media Lead: Help us communicate what scouting is all about and the fantastic activities we get up to. Manage our website, comms and outreach to the local community (schools, charities and social media outlets). This role is also part of our Exec team, helping to shape the future ofthe group.

Non-Uniformed Roles

Not ready for a weekly commitment? We’d still love your help. Our Supporters roles cover everything from parent rota helpers to one-off event and camp support, fundraising, and trustee positions — even an hour or two a month makes a real difference.

Volunteering either as a uniformed volunteer or as a member of the Trustee Board means your children get priority on the relevant waiting list, and you don’t pay subscriptions (currently £195 per year per child). With a growing waiting list, this can make a huge difference both to your own child’s Scouting journey and to how many children we can welcome into each section.
