Cubs

There are loads of fun things that you can do as a Cub Scout with 1st Bernwood Forest Scout Group. We are out and about learning new skills like camping, backwoods cooking and firefighting. Soar to great heights. Being a Cub opens up a whole other world.

Cubs want to try as many things as possible which means getting dirty a lot. They wear a dark green sweatshirt or polo shirt.

We are involved in local community projects as well as challenging ourselves to try new activities, sports, exploring the outdoors through hikes and team events with our other packs. The hiking photo is where are cubs are taking part in the annual Endurance-10 event, where they hike 10km across the Chilterns! Our programme is driven by the ambitions of our cubs where they drive the programme planning.

Each year we run a couple of camps involving at least 2 nights away. This gives cubs the opportunity to apply what they have learned and grow in their independence.

There is a huge number of badges that they can achieve; encouraging them to challenge themselves and gain confidence. Whether overcoming a fear of heights with abseiling down a tower, or kayaking down the river Thames, they can achieve anything they set their minds to with the support of their leader and group.

We have three cub packs, two of which are jam-packed with cubs every week bursting to learn, growth, develop and have fun!

The Cub Scout Promise:

The Promise is a simple way to help young people celebrate their shared Scout values. Every Cub Scout promises to stick by these values when they become a member.

I promise that I will do my best
to do my duty to God and to The King,
to help other people
and to keep the Cub Scout Law.

The Cub Scout Law:

As part of being a Cub Scout, we have a set of Cub laws that we try to uphold. These are:

Cub Scouts always do their best,
think of others before themselves
and do a good turn every day.

There are alternative versions of the Cub Promise available here:
