Vacancies
Current Volunteer Vacancies – Autumn 2025:

There are many ways you can help in providing scouting adventures to over 120 people each week.
We need help with the roles listed below, but also appreciate help behind the scenes by just giving up as little as an hour or two a month.
- We have families who role share, which makes volunteering easier and more flexible.
- You can volunteer for a non-uniformed role as well as helping out directly with the youngsters.
- We have parent rotas and adults who volunteer for specific events i.e. camps and hikes.
- Everyone who volunteers helps us in some way to ensure we continue to grow and develop as a group.
Many of our volunteers do not have a scouting background at all, but what joins everyone together is the desire to help and support young people grow and develop skills for life.
Uniformed Volunteer Roles:
- Squirrels Magpies: Two volunteers or people who can role share, meet on Thursday 4pm to 5pm
- Osprey Beavers: One volunteer or people who can role share, meet on Thursday 5pm to 6pm
- Eagle Cubs: Two volunteers or people who can role share, meet on Monday 6pm to 7:30pm
- Harriers Scouts: One volunteer or people who can role share, meet on Thursday 7:30pm to 9pm
- Falcons Cubs: We need a new team as this section is currently closed (Long Crendon, used to meet on a Wednesday). To enable Falcons to restart, we are looking for a team of 3 to 4 volunteers (or people who can role share). We have a large waiting list for cub-age children, so this would help reduce this list.
Non-Uniformed Roles:
- Supporters and volunteers – we are always looking for supporters for 1st Bernwood Forest Scouts, if you are interested in being involved in this wonderful local group, please get in touch!
Volunteering either as a uniformed volunteer or as a member of the trustee board means that if you have young children, they get priority on the relevant waiting list to join the relevant section.
You also do not pay subscriptions (membership fee of £195 per year per child).
With a growing waiting list, this can have a huge impact on both your own child’s scouting journey, as well as enabling us to grow the number of children we can have in each section.

Our UK Chief Volunteer said, ‘I’m acutely aware of the importance of the millions of volunteers in the UK who give up their time to help others. Our volunteers say they feel more motivated, confident and more skilled as a result of the work they do with us; it’s not just those young people they’re helping who benefit.’
Our Chief Scout has also expressed his thanks to all of our volunteers, ‘I am so proud that the Scouts continue to see so many young people and adult volunteers signing up to not only have fun and experience adventures but also to learn skills for life.’
On behalf of the 1st Bernwood Forest Scout Group, we would like to say a huge thank you to every volunteer who helps and supports the group. We would not be where we are today without your hard work and commitment to equipping young people with skills for life.
For an informal chat about volunteering, don’t hesitate to get in touch with Martin, the lead volunteer for the group, on 07880 666 672.
If you would like to help out with any of the above vacancies, please use the link below to our joining form and fill out the adult volunteer section. Thank you.
