Family Experience Day
Many thanks for coming along to the 1st Bernwood Scout Group Family Experience Day.
It was wonderful to see so many families come along to try activities that we get up to across our Beavers, Cubs and Scouts sections. Some of the highlights included the whittling with candles, fire lighting and also the circus skills. For those who left your contact details, we will be in touch soon to ask for further information about your young person, so we can add them to the waiting list either for Beavers or Cubs.
We currently have a waiting list for young people to join, especially at Beaver age which is 6 to 8 years old. Scouting UK have launched a new provision for four to six year olds called Squirrels, to help young people gain skills for life at a time when it matters most and where it’s most needed. We as a group, currently have 19 young people that fall into this age group and we are considering starting a Squirrel section.
It would be wonderful to see the young people start their scouting adventures earlier (wearing their red jumpers and neckers). To help ascertain interest, we would like to host a Zoom session in the next couple of weeks where we can share what Squirrels is all about, share our ideas and also answer as many of your questions as possible.
