Remembrance Parade Sunday 12th November
Hello all young people in scouting and adults,
Sunday 12th November 2022 is Remembrance Sunday parade and service. This is where the whole of 1st Bernwood Forest Scout Group come together – Beavers, Cubs and Scouts – to remember those who have fallen in conflicts around the world, both past and present, along with the local community. This year’s remembrance theme is ‘Service’, one of the core values of scouting. This year also marks 70 years since the end of the Korean conflict.
We expect to see as many of our Beavers, Cubs and Scouts parade as possible. Attendance at Remembrance Sunday goes towards the young person’s Challenge badges (and the Chief Scout Awards), as well as the special ‘WOW’ events we are planning and we would really appreciate as many young people attend as possible.
Order of Remembrance Service.
- 09:30: Meet at the Scout HQ car park where we assemble
- 09:50: Parade from Scout HQ to war memorial
- 10:00: Start of Commemoration at War Memorial
- Parade along High Street
- 10.30: (once the parade arrives and everyone is seated) – Start of Service in St Mary’s Church
- 11:15: Conclusion of service, pick up from outside St Mary’s Church
All Beavers, Cubs and Scouts must attend in full uniform, wearing their jumpers / shirts, ironed scarfs, woggles, dark school trousers and school shoes. They will need a poppy and some change for the church collection. We have spare poppies on the day in case they do not have one. Despite the recent mild weather, it is normally chilly, so layers under the uniform is a good idea.
Parents are most welcome to attend and walk with us too, plus attend the remembrance service in the church. If you have any queries, please contact me directly, either via e:mail or give me a ring on my mobile (details below). Alternatively, please speak with your section leader teams.
