Our First Squirrel Investiture

Last week we celebrated with our new Magpies Squirrel Drey, as the newest members of 1st Bernwood Forest Scouts were invested.

Investiture is a special time where someone makes their Scout Promise, and becomes a member of both their group, and the worldwide Scout family. Some people call these Promise ceremonies and it’s often known as being ‘invested’. Parents/carers are often invited to watch the special occasion.

A Squirrel Drey is for 4-5 year olds before they move up to Beavers at 6 years of age

The activities have been specifically designed for 4- and 5-year-olds, and vary from arts & crafts, cooking and campfire activities to community support projects like litter picking or residential home visits, global learning about cultures and celebrations to outdoor activities such as hikes. This is a nationally supported initiative, there are loads of activities already developed and used by other Squirrel Drey’s across the country.
