Endurance Event 5th March 2022

Date: 30th Mar 2022 Author: Martin Summerhayes
For the first time in two years, the Buckinghamshire Scouting team held the Endurance event on Saturday 5th March.
Focused on Cubs (7 to 11-year-olds), Scouts (11 to 14-year-olds) and Explorers (14 to 18-year-olds), this year’s event was either an Endurance 10KM hike for cubs or Endurance 40KM for scouts and explorers; where the objective was to hike the distance in one day. Here in long Crendon, the 1st Bernwood Forest Scout Group, entered 35 cubs and 15 scouts into the two events.
Our cub teams came in 4th and 6th respectively (with a walking time of just over 2 1/2 hours) and our three scout teams came in 6th (with a walking time of just over 11 hours). As you can imagine the event stretches the young peoples orienteering, hiking, endurance and stamina skills. As well as walking through the Chiltern hills.
