St. George’s Day Parade 2023
The district’s annual St George’s Day Parade took place at Princess Risborough with all ten groups that make up the district – Haddenham, Brill, Bernwood Forest, Whiteleaf, Stokenchurch, Radnage, Princes Risborough, Oakley, Naphill and Hughenden, Lane End – with a parade down the High Street and a reconfirmation scouting promise celebration service in St Mary’s Church. There were members from all of our sections at the parade – Beavers, Cubs and Scouts – and it was fantastic to see so many of 1st Bernwood celebrating.
We met up at the top of the High Street and paraded down the road, following a local brass band. We managed to avoid the wind and rain that came later in the day and it was lovely to see so many people out and about cheering the young people as they paraded.
The reconfirmation ceremony at St Mary’s is the opportunity for all the young people and adults to reconfirm their commitment to scouting – supporting each other and helping others. Our collection was different this year to bring non-perishable food items which will be donated to three local food banks across the District.
A great afternoon was had by all, with many thanks to all of the young people for coming along; the adult volunteers who helped on the parade and the parents who supported us on the parade.
